April Ross

April Ross, a beach volleyball star from the United States, is among a select group of women who have won medals in multiple Olympics. In Tokyo during the next few days she will attempt to win her third gold medal along with the first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross is determined to earn more than just her first Olympic medal. There is a chance that this is her only chance, at 39 years old. But she's convinced that winning the gold medal is in reach. Ross on NBC Boston, said that when the team performs very well, or even at all, they could win a gold. "I'm also going to try a little luck." Ross was born in Costa Mesa, California in the year 1982. Her parents and sister were residents there. At Newport Harbor High School, she competed in numerous activities. When she was a student in the prep school she played indoor volleyball along with basketball and track. She stood out however in this sport. As per her biography, during high school she was a volleyball player as an outside setter (middle blocker) as well as a setter (outside blocker). To honor her achievements, she received the Gatorade Award for National Player in 1999. In addition, she was awarded the award in 2000. Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman began the partnership in 2017, however, Ross was a beach scene player for years prior to. She actually won multiple major tournaments in the past with two different partners. among them the volleyball legend. From 2007 until 2013, she was partnered with Jennifer Kessy, who is currently her coach. Kessy's teammate Ross, who took home the title of world champion together with Kessy in 2009 was also a major force on world stage. They eventually won a silver medal in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) and Misty Maytreanor won gold, ahead of them. Ross Jennings took over for May-Treanor after she retired. They won the beach volleyball bronze at the Rio Olympics in 2016. In high school and the years before she hit the sand professionally, Ross played with the Trojans of USC as a collegiate. This was an impressive performance for Ross during her time at the school. In her first year at the school, 2000 earned her the Pac-10 and NCAA Freshman of the Year awards and be an All-American. The Trojans were also able to get to the Final Four with her help. In her sophomore season she suffered a devastating personal loss and still managed to earn the honor of being named an All-American. In her last two seasons in the program she led the Trojans up to the summit of the mountain winning three consecutive championships at the national level. She was a great volleyball player and won the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the most outstanding female college volleyball player. Ross majored at USC in International Relations. Unfortunately, Ross mom Margie never got to see Ross's daughter reach the top levels of beach volleyball fame. Ross's mom Margie passed away in 2001 when Ross was in the midst of being a USC sophomore. Her breast cancer had been diagnosed. This meant that Ross is still close to her parent who died. Margie is a constant source of inspiration to her at and off the beaches.
